Learning to See

For much of my life, I believed every problem needed a solution.

If something was difficult, I tried to fix it.

If someone was hurting, I wanted to help.

Painting slowly introduced me to another way of being.

Instead of searching for answers, I began paying attention.

To colour.

To light.

To silence.

To my own emotions.

I realised that many things don't need to be solved.

They simply need to be noticed.

Painting has taught me to slow down and to become more honest with myself.

In doing so, it has changed not only the way I paint, but also the way I move through life.

Perhaps that is why I hope my paintings offer others a similar pause.

Not to provide answers.

But to create a quiet space where they can see something they may not have noticed before.

Sometimes that is enough.
